How To Be More Creative

March 5, 2009

“If  I only had an idea I would … ” Does this sound familiar? Could everyone realize their dreams if they only had an idea. Just one idea, that is all. Sounds pretty reasonable, right?

The way I see it to find a good idea you need lots of ideas.

Instead of asking just one excellent idea, ask for a lot of ideas. Ask and you shall receive. If you ask only for one idea, you can be pretty sure you will get it. If you ask for many, you can choose which ones to use. I think it is great to have choices rather than hoping a lighting to hit you. Sure, that happens too, but if you are swinging your bat more than once, you are probably going to hit more home runs.

Of course it is better to try different ideas and then pick the best ones. Some people get their best ideas during hangover, others – while walking in the forest.

Change of setting, or surroundings around you is a great way to get some new ideas, since when you change the environment you change your own perseption of the world around you. And change means new information. New information is vital. No matter what it is and where you get it.Even in biology courses in university they teach that information is change. (scientific definition, even a bit vague and harder to understand).

This, precisely being one of the downsides of formal learning in schools.
    Let me explain:

A human has seven categories of intelligences all very valuable but at times some are under or over valued by others.

    1)Linguistic intelligence
    – direct link between vocabulary and the quality of life.

    2)Mathematical intelligence
    – ability to analyse raw data and apply formulaes to base your decisions upon.. Good news!!! Research states that the same part of the brain which is active during mathematical analysis is also active when listening to classical music and letting these emotions flow.. Improves memory..

    3)Visual intelligence
    – the more you force yourself to create mindmaps and perform visual tasks: creating charts, drawings, doodles, art, film, the more one developes this part of the brain.

    4)Musical interpretation
    – The ability to listen and interpret melodies, feel the change in movements in the story behind music. People who ask how I learnt how to dance, and how they could also. I should respond with, you can’t dance, because you haven’t learnt to interpret what you want to dance to. . . They’d think I’m crazy and walk on by…

    5)Physical intelligence
-can get your hands dirty! Basically all you do manually, ranging from : Mechanics, cooking, playing an instrument, sports, body building, to playing cards. All that you do you learn from.

    6)Inter-personal int.
    – P.S. Highest payed intelligence.
    – involves: reading and reactinc correctly to other peoples emotions, team work, networking, developing a Mastermind….

    7) Intra-personal intelligence.
-people who are goal oriented individual learners
-ability to act intelligently and by this I mean ….
    – “Every time I act towards my goals I act intelligently. Every time I act otherwise I act stupidly.”
    – Its as simple as that !

Now the key to learning something new is to know in which categories do you retain info with least effort.

Be sure to always use these, because not only will you retain more, every time you add one of these 7 int. to your learning process, you remember at a 10x coefficient.

So I say Yes!! Swing your bat more than once, but be sure to swing it from different angles as well!!

Better yet , if you still can hit it. Get more bats to swing at the same ball:d !
